1st Spring Social Success!

Our first Academy social weathered even stormy weather as the clouds rolled in about the time the event was set to start. The Academy staff provided spring decorations and the parents provided plenty of food for a night of great fun and fellowship. It always amazes me that even though life is so busy that we manage to take time for our children. The children had a blast exploring and playing all sorts of board games compliments of the TASK group. We had several families that went away with great gift baskets as a thank you for participating in our social. There were so many positive comments about the evening, and I know everyone had a great time. I would like to welcome any suggestions or comments for future events, so we can begin to customize our events. I have already gotten several suggestions, so thank you for taking the time to give feedback.

March Spring Social Volunteers

At our meeting, we discussed losts of topics, but we needed additional clarification on what our role will be at the March social. I wanted to post as soon as I could to help answer your questions about what Parents4HC can do to help make it successful.

The purpose of the social is to allow Academy teachers and families a chance to enjoy a night of fun. Everyone is so busy these days, so we thought we would host a social every odd month of the year.

You may be wondering what we can to do to make this social successful. We all need to RSVP and sign up on our the official "Parent Board" to bring your family's favorite dish. Once we have a good idea of what everyone is bringing, the Academy will fill in with anything that may be needed. We also need to bring at least one "themed" item to host basket giveaways for our families that come to our event. Originally, it was communicated that it would be a raffle, but we decided that we would like to reward some lucky families with a themed gift basket. And lastly, we need volunteers to help throughout the night with ends and outs, so the Academy staff and their families can also enjoy the event.

Hopefully, by being well prepared, Parents4HC will help to host a successful social that families will look forward attending. If you have any suggestions or questions about the March social event, please let us know. I am extremely proud of what our group is doing and I look forward to seeing everyone.

Happy Customers are Paying Customers!!!

Thank you so much for all the hard work and dedication to last week's bake sale. It was a huge success. As mentioned in The Academy newsletter, Parents4HC raised $166.26. I was totally taken back by the overwhelming amount of baked goods. They were so tasty, and all of our customers thought so (i.e. parents, grandparents, children, and teachers) ! The bake sale profits will go toward helping us get a "petty cash" that we can use to buy supplies and other things to help out our school.

Parents4HC would also like to take the time to thank everyone that help make this a huge success. We appreciate not only the donations, but your time that it took to bake such delicious treats! I am very excited to be a parent of The Academy, and I hope to meet more of you at our next meeting on March 17th!!

BAKE SALE READINESS!!!

Hello friends,

I hope we are all having a good week so far. I wanted to post to remind everyone that the Bake Sale is planned for Friday, and I wanted to know if there is anything I can help get us ready. Amber has ask that we bring our baked goods individually wrapped by Thursday afternoon. I will speak with Dawn about keeping them in the kitchen until Friday morning. Just to be on the safe side, let's steer clear of ingredients that could stir up food allergies.

We are hoping to display our baked goods during morning rush and afternoon rush, so parents can pick up a treat for the kids or themselves. Hopefully, we will raise enough money to begin a petty cash fund that we will use to pay for materials and supplies that may be needed for the parent board, suggestion box, or anything else we may need.

The Parent4HC group is really trying hard to ensure that we are doing everything that we can to support our children, each other and the school. I appreciate everyone's ideas, time, and energy to make our efforts successful. As always, reach out to me at anytime.

Successful First Meeting!!

The "Parents4HC" group for the first time on Tuesday, March 17th. We had a great discussion about many topics. I think first and foremost we should thank those who could attend, and we want to encourage other parents to join. Our main purpose is to support our school in anyway that we can while making our children and the teachers our main priority. We want to help host special events for families, partner with the teachers, and raise money to support our children. Our next scheduled meeting is planned for March 17th at the school at 6:30 pm. We would love for more volunteers to come.

We have decided to host a bake sale for next Friday, so the parents will have money for basic needs such as paper and supplies to help promote our event. Stay tuned for more info......

Special Guest Star Appearance!!!!

I am excited to announce that we will have a special guest star tomorrow night at our meeting! Thank you Dawn Yenney, our fabulous director, is making a special appearance to kick off our first meeting. As many of may not know, Dawn lives in Rutherford County, so we appreciate her dedication for agreeing to attend. I ask Dawn to provide some information, so we could get to know a little more about her both personally and professionally.

Who is our director?

Dawn replies, "I have been married to my wonderful husband, Tony, for 10 years. We have two amazing children, Alexis is 9 years old and Tyler is 6 years old. We have two cats Angel and Frisky, one dog Sasha, three fish, and a hamster named Cocoa Puffs. Our family lives in Rutherford County and we hope to relocate to Williamson County in two years. In our spare time our family loves to be outside camping, fishing, and long walks."

"I have been working with children for the past 5 years. I have been employed with Never Grow Up, Inc since April 2005. I started out at Holly Tree Child Care Center on Franklin Rd. I have taught 3’s, PreK, and then was Assistant Director at this location. In the summer of 2008 I began this wonderful journey preparing to open The Academy of Heritage Commons. Communication is key at The Academy, please know that my door is always open."

We are certainly glad to kick off our "Parents4HC" meeting! Angel Foods is providing some yummy sweets for us to enjoy! Sweets help me think better! I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at 6pm at our school.
